The name of the project refers to the story Library of Babel by Jorge Luis Borges, dedicated to the paradox of finiteness and infinity of the universe. This allegory of the unimaginable finiteness of the text leads to reflection on the concept of "novelty", the essence of the creative act and the existence of the unwritten and uncreated, including in the context of the development of digital technologies and neural networks. Is this or that work being created out of "Nothing" or does it already exist in a certain potency and art consists in embodying this potency, and the author seems to open an already written page of a book from the Babylonian Library? Is it possible to consider the process of creation as a search for variations of the existing and what place does randomness occupy in this process?
The project represents an installation imitating one room of the Library of Babel with 32 ceramic objects in the form of bundles with books inside, tied with a rope, as a symbol of the potency of uncreated. Ceramics which assumes fragility and emptiness of objects inside, emphasizes the paradox of existence and non-existence of the uncreated, its birth from emptiness.
